Swaying Chandeliers & Indian Magic!

THE MUSIC ROOM by SATYAJIT RAY
I saw this film many years ago with my late husband Gilles, a French aristocrat and film buff, who took me to the many small “cinema’s” in Paris to see the most beautiful films from around the world in ORIGINAL VERSION!
The images of the gently swaying crystal chandeliers in the old Indian Palace are unforgettable!
With The Music Room (Jalsaghar), the late Indian film director Satyajit Ray brilliantly evokes the crumbling opulence of the world of a fallen aristocrat desperately clinging to a fading way of life. His greatest joy is the music room in which he has hosted lavish concerts over the years—now a shadow of its former vivid self.
For years I tried to find this film on DVD (although seeing it on the big screen is magical) and now it is finally available in The Criterion Collection.
